The ultimate form of connecting people.
Fast forward to about 1:12, and you will see Batou having a conversation with Major Kusenagi, pretty much inside his head. You can see he has a heads up display overlayed on the real world, a sort of augmented reality setup. There is a video of Kusenagi talking as well as the audio feed, but this is an avatar rather than a video feed.
A little bit of context about Ghost In The Shell: these people are heavily augmented humans with machine implants, allowing this sort of networking and internal display to be possible. The fully internal nature of this makes it extremely flexible and effficient, but also unavailable to those without implants.
This is obviously very effective from a squad operations standpoint, though a little invasive for casual use. You would need to be able to turn it off!
