Chasing Cats.
We decided to go with the idea of FBI agents tracking a cat down, as this fits with the agent stereotype. If it seemed like a serious man hunt until the end, when it is actually only a cat, that could be a good punchline. Looking for a cat for someone is also an everyday sort of thing.
Key points to keep in mind:
- Their communication is the focus. This must enhance their activity or help solve their problems.
- The beginning must have a serious tone, and attempt to trick the audience into assuming that these men are searching for a fugitive.
- The agents should be cold, efficient, almost robotic.
- Shot composition should be very square and punchy, with simple dramatic backgrounds that will show through well once photoshopped.
Some shot ideas we want to incorporate:
- Coat billowing in the wind (interesting to do in stop motion)
- Close-up 180 pan around the subject (to reveal face or to reveal where the agent is looking)
- Dolly zoom (see post below)
- Comic book style frames
