As change accelerates, so does the effect.
Today, people who have not yet reached the middle of their life span often feel like aliens to the culture and technology that has sprung up around them, things comprehended much more easily by their children. When the minds of their children were forming, being written at the most basic level, the world was closer to what it is now.
Soon, as communication speed, complex organisational structures and vast data sets make virtual space even more common and important, AI will far surpass us in traversing it.
